The Association marked its 60th anniversary at a wonderful conference at the University of Exeter in April 2015. Like all landmark moments, this was an opportunity to reflect on the past, but also to look forward to what we might be able to achieve together in the future. In recent years, and with the support of the Spanish Embassy, Tamesis and Legenda, we have been able to support the work of our postgraduate and early-career colleagues through conference and research travel bursaries and publication prizes, and have initiated an International Fellowship scheme to encourage creative collaboration within and beyond our own borders. In the near future we hope to launch a mid-career mentoring programme and other initiatives that will benefit all our members at all career stages.
To resource and sustain this momentum, the Board of Trustees and Executive Board have approved plans for a 60th Anniversary Appeal, which was formally launched at Exeter. We are asking members and non-members to consider a contribution of at least £5 pounds a month (£60 a year) to a development fund that will secure the sustainability of our activities for the foreseeable future. Every penny will go into making the Association increasingly vital and relevant for all of us.
If you would like to contribute, please complete the donation form and Gift Aid form, and return them to Dr Katie Brown (AHGBI Treasurer). As the Association is a registered charity, at no extra cost to you Gift Aid will allow us to generate considerably more income (for every £60 donation the Development Fund will get £75).
